Bathing Water Sculpture 001

£0.00

This sculpture is currently being exhibited at Gallery 35, Cranbrook. Please contact the gallery for pricing.

Hand-built figure, made from black groggy clay to create an organic earthy sculpture. The body is built in sections made from solid clay, then attached together using a wet slurry. This figure is part of the collection Bathing Water Sculptures.

This figure is in the position of drying their hair with a towel, after bathing in the sea. Kneeling, their head is positioned to lean into the towel with their arms up, shoulders slightly folded forward and feet gently folded over each over.

This green glaze is handmade, using a sponge application method to create different mottles- resulting in different glaze colours when fired. The combination of glaze and forms, make the sculpture appear to be dig from the sea or the ground after years of wear.
